You are my destiny. The Chinese version

When I started to watch the drama I thought it will be one of those cheesy ones where leads meet, are brokenhearted so spend night together, regret it later, suddenly she is pregnant so they try to be together and eventually fell in love. bla bla bla .... and You Are My Destiny has all of that. BUT! That's not everything it has. This is one of my most unexpected finding on Viki  as it consists of happiness, sadness, reality, love fairytale, tragedy and dreams coming true in such a great ratio that I just couldn't rate it differently than 7,5/10. 

It all starts with 2 broken relationships who decides to take a romantic cruise to the Bahamas. Chen Jia Xin is with a man that is non-respecting cheater while Wang Xi Yi is with successful balerina who prefers to persue her career than to be a wife. As a result of several unexpected situations and large amount of alcohol 💫 Jia Xin and Xi Yi wake up on the day as married couple. Both of them are not planning to stay married, especially that he loves Shi Anna despite leaving him alone on the ship, so they decide to divorce.

Quickly married, not so quickly apart 😅 - Jia Xin suddenly learns that she is pregnant and Xi Yi under the pressue of his family will take the responsibility. The just-married sign the special contract with  a divorce clause that once the child is born, it will remain with Xi Yi, who will marry the woman he loves and Jia Xin will be rembursed for the hardships. 

 

Naturally, the more time they spend together in Wang's family house, the closer they become. They finally get to know what it is to be in a relationship, to spend time with a family and plan the future. While feelings (and baby) are growing, fate is planing something special. Always when things are going too good, something bad must happen. That an emotionally wrecking event arrives in the least expecting moment and ruins everything that was between Jia Xin and Xi Yi 😞 (just look at the right picture below, I look at it and tears are still coming to my eyes 😭) 

I'm not going to go further into the plot apart from saying that Jia Xin escapes to Budapest and Xi Yi drowns into work. It all least to that one day when fate gives them second chance.

 

You Are My Destiny has 36 episodes and I don't remember single one that was boring or prolonged. It was so good that couldn't stop watching. I saw some chinese dramas but this one is almost a masterpiece 😱 The sweetness and tragedy are perfectly balanced and the same goes to the characters, they were real. I haven't seen any of this actors in other productions so can't compare them to other roles but they way they played was authentic and you could feel every of their emotion. 

I will start with the leads. Xing Zhao Lin (aka. Xi Yi) and Liang Jie (aka. Jia Xin) made a hell of a job. She brought Jia Xin from naive, innocent and nerdy character into strong mature artist. At the beginning of the show, she was a shy girl from a little village who allowed other do and say about her whatever they want. No back bone. Throughout the series, she matures, transforms, and awakens from tragic events. I admire actors who can show all these changes taking place in their characters 😍👏 On the other hand, Xing Zhao Lin presents a similar process but from a male point of view, and does it great. You feel just as strongly as their emotions tear them, how lost he is in the situation he found himself in, and although he wanted to do well, acted under the influence of the heart, he paid a huge price for it. The blame fell on him even though he was not guilty 😭

There are several secondary characters, the main ones are Anna, Dylan, Anson and Liu Si Qi. First two share very sad story and as happy I am that they got their happy ending that's also how much I despise the way they played against Jia Xin and Xi Yi. There is a saying that if an actor can make the spectator to hate his character, it is a good actor. I had that hatery against Anna for half of the show 😡😤 Often the secondary love stories are included in the series and here it incorporates Xi Yi's right hand, Anson, and Jia Xin's best friend, Si Qi. They are the ones that bring the laughs to the drama 😁😂

 

I wrote enough so it's time to wrap it up. You Are My Destiny  is based on Taiwanese series of the same name and also has it's Japenase version. That means the story or quite liked or every country was thinking "We can do it better!". Based on multiple commends and reviews of this shop, many says that chinese one is the best! Despite not seeing other versions, I agree with that! Chinese You Are My Destiny is a great show that anyone can watch and everyone can enjoy. 

It is not a a drama that is filled with love words and cutenes or being a fairy tale. It is a story that seriously could have happened! Who of us didn't have a crazy drunk night throw the first stone 😜 maybe not everyone will finish married to a conglomerate CEO but dreams are needed. 

You Are My Destiny exceeded my expectations. Producers did a good job in showing genuine love and pain. Serie shows the differances between male and female emotions - girls tend to fall faster, boys fall harder and everyone needs their time to digest the loss. From the high quality production, to the chemistry between the actors, everything was so well done 👌
