Nevertheless

It's 23 o'clock and I have just finished Nevertheless kdrama. Normally I'm waiting a good day before starting to write the review but it was quite a unique show so I would like to write about it straight ahead.

First thought that appeared in my head and stayed till the end of serie was "why the love life of artists is always so complicates?". Think about it.... there is so many movies, shows and documentries about people of art that have crazy love life. Look at Picasso who was married 2 or 3 times and having countless muses, Coco Chanel who maybe wasn't married but loved and was loved by several man. I bet there are many other examples but only these two are in my head now. Artists are known for being moody. They want to place their emotions into their art therefore they are on constant quest for inspiration. How does this relate to Nevertheless? Both leads and secondary characters throughout the show are trying to understand their emotions and push them into their final pieces at the end of semester.

Mainly Nevertheless goes about Park Jae-Eon (Song Kang) and Yoo Na-Bi (Han So-Hee), a university students, majoring in art. He is nice to everyone but never wants to be in a relationship. She is shy and just got out of the relationship after her boyfriend was caught on cheating. Soon after deciding to become unswayed by love, Na-Bi meets Park Jae-Eon and develops feelings for him. Unexpectedly, he also falls for Yoo Na-Bi and begins to change.

Nevertheless makes your heart run faster but not thanks to sweet clichéd scenes. The tension between the leads ðŸ˜ˆ and the unease that comes with it, are there from episode 1 till the end of 10th. The neverending tension comes from very reasonable reasons that many of us deal with on everyday basics small trust issues, fear of commitment and opening up and the stress from work (or like here - university). Those reasons make the show realistic and aproachable to many of us. I understand those numerous people saying the leads were annoying in their emotional confusion. Sometimes you just want to shake them and tell them to say what they should do. I bet if someone would watch a movie of our behavious would like to do the same 😅

When it comes to the rating, I would give it 7/10. It has a great cast, fantastic acting and interesting storyline that makes it pleasant to watch. On the hand, it is quite slow and there is more going on in the heads of the characters than in the show itself. Nonetheless it is very much worth seeing. If you are searching for something than cute & fluffy rom-com, this is it. Nevertheless is targeting more mature audience (after watching it I found that it was rated on 19+ age 😅) that is reaching for more realistic than sweet stories.

When reading about the show on MyDramaList I noticed that serie was made by women and many fans of the drama congratulate them on the way they have portrayed the feelings of women in their twenties who enter their love lives and try to find the oneIndeed, they well captured the concerns, excitement, happyness and female fears while starting new relationship but also the struggles to combine this all with good performance at university and/or work. Once again - reality 10/10.

Personally I liked the story very much, it was not forced, things developed naturally - quite slowly, but naturally 😬 However, at one point, the characters are so confused in their heads that you can't see the story progressing. It is a bit annoying because you have to wait actually until the last minutes of the series for the climax. Everything is well played because the actors are fantastic (I love Han So-Hee from 100 Days My Prince) and there are also 2 secondary couples who fill the airtime.

**** **** SPOILER ALERT **** **** **** **** SPOILER ALERT **** ****

Talking about the other 2 love stories.... I am pleasantly surprised by the characters that the producers have combined. Long-time friends - a quiet and calm guy with a gossiper who always goes on dates and two friends from the dawn of time who come to the conclusion that what they feel is not only friendship. The former, however, are not as interesting as the latter. The girls don't care how society reacts to their relationship (or at least it's not shown on the show), but what happens to their group of friends when God forbid they break up. Hearing negative media comments about heterosexuals in Asia, I really like the producers' approach to this story.

The cinematography, pace, dialogues and background made the show realstic and emotional. I totally recommed watchin it <3
