Love Is For Suckers

“Well, living together and loving each other, promising to love one another forever, going through ups and downs together. It’s easier said than done. I want to try that.” - This is how the story of Gu Yeo Reum and Park Jae Hoon began ๐Ÿ’ From friends to lovers. This concept has been used thousands of times and it's always relevant, not in the context that men and women cannot be friends (because they can), but because you first have to like each other before you can love.

I don't know what first drew me to the story.... Choi Si Won playing male lead Park Jae Hoon, or the unique beauty of Lee Da Hee playing Goo Yu Reum, or just the drama script, or maybe a combination of all of them? ๐Ÿ˜ Nevertheless, the first episode was already pretty interesting and if it wasn't for the arrival of my bestie for a few days, probably I would binge watch it in 3-4 days ๐Ÿ˜…

This is one of those dramas that pleasantly reflects everyday life. Of course, this is a drama, so everything is a bit far-fetched for everyday life of an average person, but you don't feel that stretch so much here. If it was a copy of everyday life who would watch it!? NOT ME! ๐Ÿ˜ค

Quickly what is it about:

Goo Yeo Reum is a 37 years old television producer who dreams of being in love and to be married. She is beautiful and kind, works harder than other producers but all her relationships and shows seems to be a flop. One day she's selected to co-produce a new dating reality TV show and just before it suppose to start main character rejects the post.

Yeo Reum calls up for her best friend Park Jae Hoon to join the show instead. As he joins the production, new dynamic between old friends changes their feelings towards each other and develops never-felt-before romantic feelings. But the transition from being friends to being lovers has never been an easy road.

I totally felt in love with the character of Goo Yu Reum ๐Ÿ’› She is light, friendly, casual, funny and over the top at the same moment .... I could easily be friends with her! She feels like my soulmate ๐Ÿ˜† Da Hee's character is amazing. The girl is as real as if the actress was playing herself, Da Hee is Yu Reum, Yu Reum is Da Hee! I don't know how many qualities does the actress share with her character but what she did was bull's-eye ๐Ÿ˜‰ Can't wait to see The Beauty Inside with her from my watch list and The Island with Da Hee and Cha Eun-Woo. I feel they are going to be good.... especially the latter.

Park Jae Hoon (Choi Si Won) also a great main character who beautifully showed suffering and recovery from trauma. I didn't expect such a plot twist with this character ๐Ÿ˜ต I thought it would be another converted play-boy ๐Ÿ˜… little did I know.... Earlier I was Si Won only once in She Was Pretty and characters are somewhat similar - funny but have a serious background.

Kang Chae Ri (Jo Soo Hyang) initially she was my least favourite but still neautral character. However the more she appeared on the screen, the more I accepted her. The moment they explained her background and reasons why she is who she is ... then I was rooting for her happy ending. She deserves is even more than leads ๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿ™‰๐Ÿ™ˆ When it comes to Soo Hyand - she is a very good actress and I'm waiting for the next drama with her!

John Jang (Park Yeon Woo) .... taugh one. Seeing him from the very beginning of the series, I would not have thought that I would ever like this guy. His catharsis totally shocked me but I'm glad he made it to the end of the show because he was a valuable character ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Han Ji Yun (Lee Juyeon) was neutral for me throughout the series with ssome moments where I would like to get rid of her because she interfered with the overall love story of the main couple. She is relatively boring character and I couldn't root for her nor hate her.

I hope I didn't deliver spoilers! I tried to cut it short but couldn't leave the review without few words about the characters.

Is Love Is For Suckers worth watching?

Oh yes it is!
The series is a beautiful love story of friends who loved each other without knowing it. The acting of the main characters and many of the side characters was very good. Even if the characters were boring, there was no sense of numbness. The actors played real and showed (real?) emotions on their faces. I 100% recommend the series for both watching one episode a day and for bench-watching. Love is for Suckers makes the day more beautiful even with its sad scenes because it shows that you can always come stronger out of them ๐Ÿ’›

The script wasn't overly complicated and had the perfect amount of twists and side-scenes details. For additional amazing clothes in the drama and pretty music I give Love is for Suckers 7/10 points ๐Ÿ˜‡ Enjoy watching!
